Smart Kids Can be Dumb About Money
Parents dont appreciate how unprepared their kids are to manage financial matters on their own and how much kids need to know today to avoid problems and bad habits which will hurt them later in life.
(PRWEB) August 20, 2024 -- Parents need to take the time to educate their kids about money management before they leave for college. Unfortunately, college students often get in financial trouble at school. US Treasury statistics reveal that 45% of all college students are in debt with an average credit card debt load of $3,000 by graduation. Studies have also shown that young people typically get failing grades on tests of their financial knowledge. They are not adequately prepared for the financial choices they must make when living on their own for the first time. In fact, bankruptcy is growing faster among young adults in their 20's than in any other age group in the country. Yet, parents are sending their kids to college with only a mild lecture against overspending.

BRYN MAWR, PA - February 20, 2024 - The American College announced today, the appointment of Billy Williams as Executive Director for online learning. Williams will be responsible for creating interactive web-based learning experiences, equal to those available in classrooms. Williams will help shape how financial service professionals embrace the online experience. In addition, Williams will be responsible for managing the editorial, production and instructional design department.
"Billy's interaction with faculty to influence change in Web-based applications has led to national acclaim for the ASU model, and we look forward to his serving as an online champion for the College's efforts in this area," said Larry Barton, Ph.D, President and Chief Executive Officer of The American College. “Rather than a static lecture over the Internet, this format will keep the student engaged through interaction.”
The college has aligned with Blackboard Inc., a leading enterprise software company for online education, to deliver online course offerings, at the college, as part of an initiative to move the institution to the next level in interactive learning. One reason Blackboard was selected was that it meets the standards of the Sharable Content Object Reference Model (SCORM). Since Blackboard can be easily tailored to individual learner’s needs, it facilitates access to education and training materials by students.
“Blackboard offers advantages,” said Williams, “For example, a manager can suggest that one of his employees pursue courses in a particular designation. As the student progresses through the courses, the learning management system of the client company can get updates from the College using the SCORM standards.”
Before joining The American College, Williams most recently served as program manager of the online MBA program at Arizona State University (ASU). Prior to his position at ASU, Williams instructed and served as chair of computer operations at Lamson Junior College. Williams’ duties entailed consulting with various clients on computerized accounting assessment tools, and software utilization.
Williams has a Bachelor’s Degree in sociology from Texas Tech University and a master's degree in information management from ASU. He is currently a doctoral candidate in computer information systems at ASU.
“Web-based learning is the future of higher education,” continued Barton. “The American College is the nation’s number one educator of insurance and financial service professionals and a robust interactive online learning program will keep us on the forefront of innovative distance education.”
The American College is the nation’s oldest and largest academically accredited educational institution devoted exclusively to financial services. Located on a 35-acre campus in Bryn Mawr, Pennsylvania, the College serves over 35,000 students predominantly on a distance education basis. The American College offers an array of specialized designation programs, a Master of Science degree in financial services and customized continuing education programs for those pursuing a career in financial services. International Education Week Encourages Study Abroad, Special Incentives for International Students
International student enrollments at US colleges and universities continues to decline, according to a recent report by CNN. While colleges and universities work to bring up enrollments by marketing to international students, other organizations are working equally hard to improve the appeal of studying abroad by helping international students obtain more services at lower costs.
Quincy, MA (PRWEB) November 15, 2024 -- International student enrollments at US colleges and universities continues to decline, according to a recent report by CNN [1. While colleges and universities work to bring up enrollments by marketing to international students, other organizations are working equally hard to improve the appeal of studying abroad by helping international students obtain more services at lower costs. Ross Mason, director of InternationalStudent.com, an online international student resource site, stated, "One of the biggest obstacles to studying abroad is the sheet cost. Most international students don't anticipate the extra expenses of living abroad, from increased insurance costs to high tuition, especially in the United States, where tuition at private colleges and universities outpaces financial aid."

The Advantages of Attending a Career College.
There are many educational choices for this years crop of graduating seniors. Traditional colleges, both four-year colleges and community colleges, are becoming less and less of a fit for students. Long times to graduate, waiting lists for popular programs, or outdated curriculum for modern careers are all compelling reasons to seek other sources of education. Indeed, only 30% of students who enter a four year college actually graduate. Of those who do graduate, large portions dont even find work in their chosen field. On the other hand, career colleges offer specific training for some of the hottest jobs available like nursing, dental hygiene and a wide range of technical and computer jobs. Lets look at three perceived disadvantages a career college has over traditional schools.
